"Home" Town

This is one of our family favorites!

Have on Hand: Nothing special

Boredom Buster Description:
On indoor days, my four kids spent hours creating their own "home" town. Using tables, desks, chairs, counters, hand-drawn signs and a variety of rooms, they appointed themselves junior proprietors of some fine and fun establishments. One would be the librarian among the living room bookcases, creating card catalogs and check out systems. Another would set up a Pet Shop, putting all the stuffed animals in the house on display. Depending on what he or she found in the pantry, one always made sure to open a Bakery or Candy Store where Monopoly money could buy an afternoon snack. A blaring boombox or iPod attached to speakers made any room the local radio station and the family room (with the TV of course!) was always the designated theater - popcorn included.

Thank you, Reidy kids, for reminding me of this great idea!

  1. Why we did not do this over Christmas break, I have no idea.
