Build a Board Game Challenge

One of our family favorites!

Have on Hand:
Poster Board
Buttons, Popcicle sticks or other knick knacks
Washable Markers, colored pencils or crayons
Dice(optional_
Construction paper/index cards/scrap paper

Boredom Buster Description: My kids might argue that creating a board game is as much fun as playing one. Each kid or team of kids can decide on a theme. My kids have built games around skiing, snowboarding, shopping, dating, Calvin & Hobbes and Christmas. Rules, draw cards, game boards, spinners and play pieces (think snowboards made of Popsicle sticks)  grew more sophisticated with age. Tip: Until it comes to actually playing the games, the less parent involvement, the better. Kids love to let their own creativity shine.
